Opera web browser

The opera web browser is the flagship product of Opera Software. It is a web browser that competes directly for market share with Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer and other popular web browsers. It has historically had a minuscule share of the browser market, in part due to its price and partly because it has no way of persuading users; which are satisfied with whatever comes on their computer out of the box. Opera has a very robust version of its web browser for PDAs, cell phones, and other hand held devices called Opera mini. It dominates that market but is losing ground to hand helds that come with Windows CE which runs Internet Explorer by default Acid2 test opera became the second web browser to pass the Acid2 test starting with Version 9 RC category web browsers.

Since its first release in 1996, the browser has had limited success on personal computers. It has had more success in the area of mobile browsing, with product releases for a variety of platforms. Approximately 40 million mobile phones have shipped with a copy of Opera pre-installed.
