The Monday Morning CEO

The Monday Morning CEO
The Challenge:
In 1977, Naval Academy graduate and Dallas Cowboys football star Roger Staubach founded The Staubach Company - a company committed to the concept of "user representation" in commercial real estate. Today, The Staubach Company (TSC) is a premier global real estate advisory firm with 1,200 professionals in 58 offices. The key factors for the company's growth are their ability to create and execute tailor-made, strategic solutions, and their reputation for an unparalleled standard of business and personal ethics. Beyond his football and business fame, Roger leads an extraordinary life. He is a regular public speaker, world traveler, and guest of renowned politicians, civic leaders, athletes, and celebrities. He is a religiously devoted family man who actively supports numerous charities and causes - and he still manages to find time for some fun like starting the Hall of Fame NASCAR racing team with star Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman.
The Solution:
Create a concept for building The Staubach Company brand online to match The Staubach Company and Roger's uncompromising personality and philosophies. Knowing the exceptional story of The Staubach Company and Roger Staubach, LevelTen recommended a blog as the best medium to tell Roger's story and reach out to the web community. LevelTen worked with Roger, his son Jeff Staubach, and TSC's IT and communications teams, to create a blog that is uniquely Roger Staubach. His unassuming, team-first style set him apart from many other popular bloggers. A creative twist on the traditional blog formula was drafted and the Monday Morning CEO blog was born. LevelTen customized an open source blog to compliment TSC's website. To maximize the buzz reach of the blog, LevelTen devised and integrated numerous unique social networking tools and search engine optimization enhancements. LevelTen expedited the development phase so the blog launch would coincide with the start of the NFL season, 9/9/05. After the launch, LevelTen continued to support the blog in an advisory and PR role.
The Results:
The blog instantly tripled the traffic to TSC website, Staubach.com. The added traffic moved Staubach.com from the fifth most popular commercial real estate advisor site to number two1, leap frogging three of TSC's closest competitors. The buzz level was tremendous as Roger's posts sparked numerous conversations across the web. Three months after the launch, over 15,000 pages referenced "Monday Morning CEO" and over 300,000 new web pages referenced "Roger Staubach."2 The blog's extraordinary buzz transferred successfully to the company's practice. Nearly 200,000 new web pages referenced both Staubach and "Real Estate,"3 a 243% jump. Over 50,000 new web pages referenced both Staubach and "Commercial Real Estate," a 227% jump.4 In the first three months, over 150 blogs, forums, and social websites sent traffic to the The Monday Morning CEO including, <i>Business Week</i> and <i>The National Review</i>. The number of links to the Staubach domain jumped to over 2,000, doubling the number of inbound links in three months for a site that had been online for ten years. The increased links significantly improved TSC's search engine rankings, best demonstrated by the site moving from fifth place in Google for the term "Roger Staubach" to second with no additional optimization. <div style=""font-size: 80%;""> 1 Reported by Alexa 12/9/05 2 Reported by Google 12/9/05 3 Reported by Google 12/9/05 (search: Staubach "real estate") 4 Reported by Google 12/9/05 (search: Staubach "commercial real estate") </div>
