To address the design issues, we implemented numerous graphical changes to improve the overall look and feel of the site and established a font sizing schema. To improve performance, adjustments were made to Drupal’s default performance settings and a series of performance-enhancing modules were installed. The primary changes and modules included the installation of PressFlow Drupal, MemCache, Varnish, Op Code Caching, and PHP Mbstring. Lastly, to facilitate content updating, we fine-tuned permissions for the various site user roles and provided several hours of one-on-one Drupal training so the staff would better understand Drupal’s capabilities.
