Rolling out our distribution of Drupal

Pardon the stream of thought post. I'm getting ideas out of my head on a project. Some of these ideas will be used later.

Tom and I have been working hard for the last couple of months on creating a distribution of Drupal. We put the initial alpha release for download on our site this weekend.

Grep My Drupal

Quite often I find myself searching for a string or a command line in an entire drupal installation. If you've ever poked around the files and directories of your Drupal site, you appreciate the complexity of all the nested directories and all the files that together make up a typical installation. It turns out that searching for a specific string is quite time consuming and tedious work.

Safari

Safari is a web browser made by apple computer for its product line. The current release is safari RSS version 2.0 it uses the KHTML rendering engine developed by the konqueror team which is responsible for many contributions to the Linux kernel and interface systems which sit on top of Linux. Safari was the first web browser to pass the web standards.org. Acid2 test apple contributed its changes back to the KHTML development team and konqueror enjoys this status as well

Selling the Cathedral and Preaching in the Bazaar

First off, let me say that I am a huge proponent of free and open source software. With that said, I am also very much a capitalist. I do not feel these are mutually exclusive characteristics, although some would disagree with me.
