Great Article + Great Site

One of my favorite places to go for design inspiration and resources is smashingmagazine.com. Recently, they posted an excellent article titled 60+ Beautiful Logo Design Tutorials And Resources. This is an amazing display of some great logo's. They have also included several useful tutorials that will walk you through the entire process of creating a logo from start to finish.

LevelTen Agile Concepts

As LevelTen has been transitioning from a waterfall model to Agile Methodology, we’ve not only learned a whole different viewpoint on process, but a new vocabulary to go along with it. The terms "daily scrum" and "sprint" are thrown around so much in the office, that we end up using these new terms around our clients and friends who then look at us like we are speaking a foreign language. I'd like to share a few of these concepts, but first, a short overview.

Artist or Designer...which is it?

I often contemplate: Is their a difference between an artist and a designer?

Give me an A? Give me Results!!!

EverydayI talk to a handful of people about web development and marketing projects. For the most part, I get quite a few of the same questions and responses. This got me thinking about why I kept getting the same response to a particular question. When asked what our process was for taking on new clients, I always begin with discussing our strategy and planning process.

Scrum

A Scrum is not an acronym, but mechanisms in the game of rugby for getting an out-of-play ball back into play. They try to go to the distance as a unit, passing the ball back and forth.

ICEDIP

The ICEDIP model created by Geoffrey Petty describes the creative process, contributing to many different aspects from creative writing to creative design. The ICEDIP model was developed to make best of the creative process.

Petty’s creative process has six phases. The first letter of each word spells out ICEDIP. This will help to remember each of the phases:

Inspiration-research and generate ideas
Clarification-focus on your goals
Evaluation-review your work and learn from it
Distillation-decide which of your ideas to work on
Incubation-leave the work alone
