DALLAS, July 7, 2010— More than two-thirds of organizations anticipate increasing their investment in open source technology, according to a recent survey by Accenture.
This comes as no surprise to Dallas-based LevelTen Interactive, which has been preaching the virtues of top open source development platform Drupal to clients and colleagues since 2008.
Of those surveyed, 40% said they plan on migrating mission-critical software to open source platforms within the next 12 months.
Last week ForeSee Results released their sixth annual Top 100 Online Retail Satisfaction Report. The numbers are in and web shoppers are considerably more satisfied this year than they were during the 2009 recession. Of the 100 e-retailers examined, 28 scored above 80 on the study’s 100–point scale. A year ago only five sites scored above 80. According to ForeSee, a one-point increase in online customer satisfaction translates to roughly $89 million in increased sales for a top e-retailer.
Is this a sign of good times ahead? Or are customers just happier now that the economy is better?

LevelTen will attend the DFW Scrum User Group on Tuesday 10/27/2009 at 6:30PM CT for an on-site presentation and Q&A from one of Scrum’s greatest thought leaders; Mike Cohn. Estimates drive the accuracy of our delivery dates. All too often we “think” we know how to estimate, but how do you train your developers (who are giving the estimates) to estimate? Mike will give a brief presentation on the topic, provide some exercises, and then hold a Q&A session to answer your questions (yes, he will be bringing planning poker cards as well to hand out).
The DFW Scrum User Group is *FREE* and we will be providing dinner. We just ask that you register so we can ensure we have enough food and space (seats are limited).

Video recap, in 3 parts, of Aaron Strout's presentation, I'm Your Customer and I Can't Hear You from the Inbound Marketing Summit, 2009. Aaron Strout is the Vice President of Marketing for Powered, an Austin based Social Media Marketing agency.
The DFW Social Media Marketing group met last night at Dave & Busters where two amazing speakers taught small businesses/website owners and individual self promoters the value of Personal Branding online through Social Media to promote businesses as well as hands-on Twitter tactics and tools.
I just installed the Drupal module GCal Events, which pulls in a specified Google Calendar, and it's working pretty well besides a few "gotchas." First things first, read the documentation on this one. It's very important to know the extra steps needed to get this working and displaying in a format that works. The most important thing to note in the documentation is that you will need to download and upload "SimplePie" in order for the module to parse the XML feed it obtains from Google. Once the module and Simple Pie are installed, you might experience a fatal error message for memory. Version 6.x-1.4 of the module loads 2500 calendar entries, so this may cause some problems. If you experience this error, try installing the development
Dallas, Texas April 27, 2009 -- Even the dogs are now "doing it with Drupal". National Polymer International Corporation (NPIC), the makers of N-Bone dog, cat and ferret treats launched their new website today. The site, built with the open source content management system Drupal, was designed and developed by LevelTen Interactive, a Dallas area Drupal development and design agency.
Dallas, TX February 10, 2009 – The Internet is not as cheap as it seems. Contrary to popular belief, in order to create a professional, business class website, one must invest anywhere from $10,000 to $100,000 or more. While this is only a marginal cost to large businesses (especially when you compare these costs to traditional advertising or other business ventures), it often precludes a small business owner from taking advantage of what the Internet has to offer.
