YouTube: An Informed Decision

In November 2008, I will be casting my vote for President for the 5th time in my life. I have had some winners and some losers. I have even had one where my vote didn't even count. Some guy named Harry Browne or something like that. Now that I am older, I look back on those "hanging chads" and wonder if the vote I casted the right one. Of course, I can't answer that, because every time I poked a hole in the in the yellow piece paper, the "chad" I left hanging was an uninformed one. It was not because I didn't know anything about the candidates. It was because I only knew the propaganda. Slanderous commercials, media spin, and comments of "flip flop" all played a part in how I perceived each candidate. Although I am sure that propaganda will play a major roll in most of the chad hanging in 2008, I will no longer let it sway mine. I can finally make an informed decision with just a click of a button.

How can it be the simple? YouTube is to blame. Not long ago, I was watching the some news channel and heard a reporter spewing out more propaganda. Amongst the spew was a comment about how YouTube was going to be the "new wave" in politics. I thought to myself, "What an idiot! YouTube is for people making asses of themselves just to get a laugh." Well, needless to say, I opened my mouth and shoved my foot in. Now I can't wait to get home at night to see what video has been uploaded to the very popular web 2.0 site. I have to say that I am addicted. I know what each candidate has to say. Not in the water down versions that the media outlets give, but I actually hear the vague answers and spin come directly from the candidates' mouths. An informed decision!

In all honesty, my favorite past time late night is watching the candidates squirm when candidate Ron Paul discusses the truth. "Who is Ron Paul?" you ask. Well, simply click here and hang your first informed chad.
