Slow Down-You Can't Do It All

In a world of busyness, a lot of us are hopelessly devoted to having it all. You know, it’s that work-hard-play-hard mentality. The harder you work the more rewards you will reap. As a result, we feel the need to fill every minute of every day meeting those demanding deadlines rather than doing the very things that we most want to.

Sometimes, we work so hard that it feels like there is not a minute to spare. We have been taught to think that if you work hard and don’t see any results then you simply “aren’t trying hard enough”! Over time busyness makes us dull and our perceptions become skewed, we often lose focus on what we are working so hard for.

Work smarter, not harder.

Just because you put in extra hours at work it doesn’t mean you are increasing your productivity; it’s only the result of working harder. To be more productive means to do more with less effort, not more with more effort.

Instead of focusing on getting results, focus on whether you need those results at all.

Work or play, realize the value is in the importance and worth of the outcome, not how much time and effort went into it.

Don’t overload your time and brain with impossible expectations.

Stop the madness-eliminate the crash and burn. Stop trying to grind out more in your waking hours than those hours were ever designed to hold or you will lose your focus.

Accomplish more of what matters to you.

Practice the things you want to do rather than always focusing on the things you “have to do”. I think you will find yourself working more effective and life will be much more satisfying.
