Wire & Twine
This is a site I come back to occasionally just to see what's new.
I think the most delightful thing about Wire & Twine (aside from their name) is that they are deliberately doing something they love. They simply make things they think are neat and sell them. Luckily for them, what they find cool is generally pretty cool to the rest of us.
Design-wise, the site is incredibly personable. It's easy to navigate and down to earth. The real-life textures like wood, post-its, and tape make it familiar to just about any user. I should mention that this kind of thing is very difficult to pull off well - especially on the web.
Anxious to see the source code (because I'm a geek like that), I hit ctrl+u and took a look under the hood. Frankly, I was a little disappointed. Anyone who cares can go look for yourself - you'll see what I'm talking about. The comment about "Yes, I used tables and dreamweaver," was redeeming enough though. Ok- so pretty code isn't their deal. That's ok because, hey - they make really pretty products! Get there now and you may be able to get the "momergency kit" in time for a belated mothers-day gift. I ordered one for my wife today. The shipping was free, which was a nice little surprise.
