I'm not typically great at "about me" posts. It's probably because I'm always looking for a fresh angle - some way to go about things that's different - and, frankly, that's a tall order for this type of post. The purpose of most "about me" posts is an introduction. I want you to know me better and I'm sure you'd like to know who's behind all this commentary. Let's start with the basics:
I just started at Level Ten as the Project Management Intern. I'll be spending the majority of my time assisting the various project teams here at L10. Plus, I get to update this blog on a regular basis!
I come to L10 as a recent graduate of Ithaca College's Integrated Marketing Communications program. (Yes, that's a long way from Texas!) The program takes a comprehensive look at the fields of marketing, advertising and public relations, with some internet marketing and sales promotion thrown in for flavor.
My professional interests lie in emerging media and new technology. I'm always trying to keep up to date on the latest advertising and marketing trends. You can find me on several of the social media networks, including Twitter and LinkedIn. I also have a personal blog where I discuss everything from marketing to my latest culinary adventures.
Professional interests aside, I'm a homebrewer, amateur photographer, sports fan and foodie.
In the coming weeks, look for entries on this blog about topics that center on the web design and marketing industries. There's certainly a lot of cool stuff out there, and I can pretty much promise you'll never be bored.
Find the right balance of PM control and project throughput
Be careful not to impose so many controls over your projects that you impact agility and throughput. The key is to run your project management practice as a parallel track with delivery... not as a "gate" or "intersection"

Like from Road Trip
Isn't that the school from Road Trip?
Ithaca College
Close - guy who made the film went to Ithaca. Ithaca didn't want to be associated, so he renamed it to Ithaca University - which doesn't exist.
