Looking for a list of places to walk or bike to in Madison, Wisconsin? Searching for Farmer’s Markets in the Greater Baltimore area? How about a list of all things green in Austin, Texas? There are interactive maps for just about everybody at the Open Green Map.
According to their website, "An Open Green Map is an interactive online map of sustainability sites, pathways and resources created by Green Mapmakers and open to public participation. Merging local knowledge and our freshly updated iconography with a Google Map, the resulting Open Green Maps are viewable from this OGM platform and many other websites that embed our widget. With open commentary, green ratings, multimedia elements, and 'impacts index', and more, everyone will be able to get involved."
To create your own map, you have to be a registered Green Mapmaker, but soon they will be accepting public submissions. Mobile apps are in the works as well, so you can stay green while on the go. Explore their new Drupal-based site at www.opengreenmap.org.
