Have you ever watched an automobile race? I’m a pretty avid fan and I don’t care if it’s NASCAR or the IRL in every league there is generally a hand full of drivers who win most of the races. These drivers have superior equipment, manpower and talent; all of which are necessary to continually win races. However, on occasion you’ll see other drivers who don’t have all those advantages win a race; proving that anyone with the right team, determination and proper investment can be competitive.

While the aggregation of content has been around as long as the World Wide Web and the ability to filter aggregated content has advanced considerably over two decades – as seen through search engines, news websites, personal feed aggregation, etc. The ability to disseminate content across multiple networks has seemingly been slow to develop.

In many Internet marketing projects, a common goal can be to reach out to digital influencers in the client's target industry. Reaching out to influencers can provide many benefits like backlinks, positive PR, word-of-mouth, and product sales.

For a baseball fan like me, the first week of March is always a welcome time for delivering the promise of warmer, baseball-filled months ahead. Spring training is getting fired up in Arizona and Florida, and though my days of performing hitting and throwing drills are far behind, I have some skills to develop this spring.

In 1984, Jay Conrad Levinson wrote the first edition of his landmark book, Guerrilla Marketing. In it, he outlined a strategy where small upstart companies could finally compete with the big boys.

The love affair that we share with our mobile devices can be summed up with a goofy Jerry McGuire line: "You complete me." Marketing professionals understand the intimate connection that exists, and work every day to capitalize on the marketing potential of mobile.
As both Rachel and Tom alluded to in their posts about our Scrum training with Mike Cohn, the Product Owner role is one we struggle most with at LevelTen. The stresses associated with Product Ownership can be overwhelming, especially when we load down our POs with multiple projects.
Why is this role so challenging?
Last Tuesday Accretive Solutions gave me the opportunity to present a social media 101 to a room full of about 250 to 300 CPAs. I have been getting some questions about the presentation so I thought I would do a quick post to complement the deck uploaded to SlideShare.
2010 is already shaping up to be a banner year for Drupal. While Drupal 6 flourishes and continues to build on its devoted base of followers, the release of Drupal 7 is imminent. Drupal 7 is currently in alpha and many are speculating an official release sometime in the Spring, perhaps at DrupalCon San Francisco in April. I put together a list of things to look forward to in 2010.
Drupal 7 Release
The latest release of Drupal will have major usability improvements. The Drupal 7 User Experience Project had four main goals for the release of Drupal 7:
I recently went through Mike Cohn’s Scrum Product Owner training. I was a little worried I wouldn’t learn too many new things since we have already read all three of Cohn’s books. Mike, however, did not disappoint.
I originally listed several take aways from the training in this post. Then realized it was too long and that many of the take aways were a post unto themselves. So my plan is to cover each one as a separately.

According to Wikipedia, Guerrilla Marketing is described as:
The concept of guerrilla marketing was invented as an unconventional system of promotions that relies on time, energy and imagination rather than a big marketing budget. Typically, guerrilla marketing campaigns are unexpected and unconventional; potentially interactive; and consumers are targeted in unexpected places. The objective of guerrilla marketing is to create a unique, engaging and thought-provoking concept to generate buzz, and consequently turn viral. The term was coined and defined by Jay Conrad Levinson in his book Guerrilla Marketing. The term has since entered the popular vocabulary and marketing textbooks.
Guerrilla marketing involves unusual approaches such as intercept encounters in public places, street giveaways of products, PR stunts, any unconventional marketing intended to get maximum results from minimal resources. More innovative approaches to Guerrilla marketing now utilize cutting edge mobile digital technologies to really engage the consumer and create a memorable brand experience.
In other words, you need to do something unique in such a way that people are going to be talking about it for a long time. In my opinion, the T-Mobile campaign is probably one of the best in recent memory; paid actors simply filled the train station and in unison began dancing a choreographed routine. It was remarkable really, to the extent that individuals not paid to participated started dancing, have a look.
Questions, questions, questions; when you're looking for someone to help you with your new Drupal project there's always a flurry of data you want to collect. Let's be honest, it's somewhat of a marriage and you're trying to choose the right partner to take down the alter. Understanding as much as you can is great, but in my experience there's 3 things you can do that will give you the most information with the least amount of effort.

Through the years I’ve noticed a trend that more experienced, senior designers are much more productive than junior level designers. I first noticed this when LevelTen would hire junior-level designers based on a great portfolio, but ultimately get less productivity from them because it took twice, sometimes three times as long for them to create a site design comparable to a senior designer’s.
From a business perspective, this inefficiency not only causes bottlenecks in production and budget increases, but also can harm morale of the team.
LevelTen has been practicing Scrum, mixed with other agile practices, for about a year and a half now. While we have solved plenty of challenges this past year on figuring out how to use the Scrum framework to fit our company, we still have a lot to learn on how to be truly agile. The challenges we face were really brought to light during Mike Cohn's ScrumMaster Certification course I took early this week.

Selecting the best solution for website design and online marketing is one of the most complex tasks a business must undertake. Putting together a website design RFP can be a nightmare. There are literally thousands of options from free-lance designers, to large national ad agencies and IT consultancies. Development processes range from a few hours putting together sites of amateur quality to projects by an organization with a proven and refined process for crafting a world-class web presence. Costs range from virtually free to millions of dollars - and every web developer is marketing their offering as a complete “results driven” solution.
