I should really appreciate if anyone cared to help me solve the obstacle I have encountered while setting up the L10 Design Hit Counter (PHP version).
I had already successfully set up the L10 FormMail script and wished to include the hit tracking function as well. I uploaded all the files to my server, set the file permissions and opened the Script Initialization page in my browser. Then I provided all the necessary values with regard to the database, accepted the URL's that appeared in the E and F fields and pressed the Initialize button. A Successful installation was reported. Further, I visited the 'Counter.php' page and the small blue logotype in the top left corner appeared. So far so good. However, when I opened the 'Reporter.html' page and the flash animation had loaded, there popped up an incomplete alert message to the effect that 'The Admin CGI script returned an error. See'. According to the installation instructions, this was where the log-in form should have appeared.
I then repeated the whole process several times to find where the mistake had occured, but failed utterly to solve the problem. Could anyone please let me know if I made a mistake leaving the 'E. URL for L10HC_Admin.cgi: (this script)' and 'F. URL address to L10HC_Reporter.html:' as they appeared when I first accessed the Script Initialization Page. They were both pre-written thus: 'http://www.mysite.com/exec/php4'.
Please take note that I then tried changing their default values to match the exact physical location of the scripts on the server, but that did not help either. The 'L10HC_Reporter.html' is, indeed, in the L10Apps directory as I expect it should (and this is different to what initially appeared on the Script Initialization page, suggesting 'http://www.mysite.com/exec/php4'). The 'L10HC_Admin.cgi' file, however, I was unable to locate anywhere on my site. Am I wrong in expecting to find it, the only other file sharing the name but not the extension being the 'L10HC_Admin.php' file?
I suspect the fault must be somewhere in these two fields (i.e. E and F) on the Script Initialization page. I should dearly like the script to begin functioning and should therefore be most thankful if somebody suggested a solution to this issue.
Thank you very much for your patience if you should think my post somewhat lengthy, or resembling another post submitted earlier. |
