|
|
I just installed L10HC - v3.15 r6 (12/18/03) onto a linux server (2.4.7-10) running php 4.3.3, apache 1.3.20 and mysql 4.0.16. While the install went well, and the server is accumulating statistics that I can see via L10HC_Reporter.html, I can't seem to get the count to display on any of my web pages.
More specifically,
I unchecked the "Remove Hitcounter Display" box and saved it.[/i]
I set up some text and variables in the Hitcounter messages window and saved it.
I confirmed that the above entries were recorded in the ~/L10Apps/L10HC_AcctParam.php ($removeDisplay = 0 and $phrases filled with text and variables and formats)
Finally, I pressed the Page Tracking Code button and copied the resultant html into the appropriate spot on my webpage and uploaded it to the server.
But, all I see on the webpage is the icon for L10.
Where am I going wrong?
Thanks for the help. |

I have the same question. Can't figure this out and did the same settings as you. http://members.nuvox.net/~on.dralston/
I must say it was one of the easiest CGI setups I ever did. I am glad it uses HTML tags for the pages as the program I once had used SSI and my current provider does not support any SSI it appears. Just a tip for what it is worth. I have long used a little free tool called Search and Replace to change something in multiple files (such as adding the L10 tags to my page). http://www.htmlworkshop.com/
Another question is that in other programs I have used one of the reports showed the visitor's IP/hostname? I do not see it in this program; is it not available?

To use the Hit Counter display, make sure the “L10HC_FlashParam.txt” is in the same directory as the HTML page that the Hit Counter page is embedded into. Basically the Hit Counter display calls this file to tell it where to get its data from.
To answer the second question about IPs. The system does track IPs and remote hosts but the report is not built into the Reporter interface. We are gathering the data because it is going to be a report in version 4.0 which we are currently developing.
There are actually several things that version 3.15 is doing to prep for v4.0. There is one hidden feature will allow you to view IPs and session info. Call your Admin.php with this query string:
| Code: | | L10HC_Admin.php?action=session&pw=password&full=1&p=0&format=2 |
where password is the password you set using the Reporter.
Meanwhile look for v4.0 to be into beta in a couple weeks and we are shooting for a stable release by the end of Feb. 04 |

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I already had L10HC_FlashParams.txt in the site root directory, which is where my index.html file resides. Nothing but the L10 icon with the links both to my home page and to the L10 home page.
The problem does not seem to be browser-related: I get the same display whether in IE or in Mozilla.
Anything more I can pass on to help diagnose this?
Thanks,
Ollie |

OK, when I installed the core, I created a subdirectory under my root public directory. It has the files L10HC_Reporter.html along with the one you mentioned and two .swf files. I am probably missing something simple. At least I am not alone. Is there a site where I can go to at least see what it should look like?
Thanks for the hidden feature. I will try that out. And also thanks for the information on your development timetable.

OK I did the hidden feature command with adjustments to the fact I am using the CGI version. I got a "counter successfully installed". But when I open the reporter I see nothing new. Is there something more I needed to do or am I not looking in the right place? Sorry, I have worked with CGI before but I am far from expert.
Also it did not ask me for a password (I do have it set to not require the password with this browser).

It's truly unbelieveable that even I "StaticMan" was able to install anything onto my server.
Now to the meat and potatoes!
I can't see anything either! Since this is my first week dealing with ASP, CGI, PHP, and LMNOP I'm pretty happy just to see the graphic and the fact that I can logon, but now I'm ready for the Pepsi challenge.
How can I visitors see it?
Here's what I know. I've got a Windows Server IIS, it has the current version of PHP on it. Installation went fine, I've can login and view stats, I've got the "Hit Counter Display Options" set to "Enable Display."
I then saved and took the code from the "Page Tracking Code" page and put that into my "index.html" and that is why I can see the default graphics, but no visitor information. If you hover your mouse a few pixels above the actual graphic and right click, you'll see that there's a blank bank of flash there, but nothing is visible.
(Damn this is long!)
Here's my site:
http://www.jasarius.com/
And here's the code I put in:
| Code: | <!-- L10 Hit Counter page code -->

By the way, the other post mention a "L10HC_FlashParams.txt," I have no idea where the hell that is.
Peace. |

| Did we expend our quota of questions? Seems to be a few of us in the same pickle. At least I am not lonely. |

|
|
I think I had the same problem in that the installation was successfull, I was gathering stats, but I just couldn't get the scrolling text to work on the page.
I did have version 3.15 somewhat working a while back and the scroller was working then, but have since deleted it. I wanted to do a fresh install and saw the 2004 bug reported so thought that version 3.16 was best to go with. After this install, the scroller didn't work.
I found the problem to be that the flash movie is not set to play when the web page is loaded (try right clicking where the scroller should be). I checked the code I used against the demo of atmanager.com and found no differences, but when I add the following code to my pages, all works perfectly fine:-
| Code: | | <PARAM NAME="Play" VALUE="-1"> |
You will see where to put this code (simply where the other <PARAM> values are near the start of the L10 code).
Can anyone confirm or deny if this would help them out and indeed, if this may be a bug in 3.16 in that the Page Tracking Code Generator does NOT add this parameter?

Apparently I am missing the point here as I looked at your page and it appears just like mine with a static L10 graphic that links to the L10 website? Am I misunderstanding either what I think I should be seeing or do I need to do something else to see what I think I am supposed to see?
But thanks. I am sure we will get there eventually. I am quite a newbie at this. |
